Law360 (Oct.2, 2020, 10:49 p.m. EDT) – State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics America Inc. in federal court in Pennsylvania Friday, stating that the company was responsible for the loss of its policyholder after a fire burst in the insured’s home when a Samsung microwave failed.

State Farm said the fire broke out in its policyholder’s home in February due to a “catastrophic malfunction” of the Samsung microwave oven, and recovery rights are being sought on behalf of the insured.

The fire started in Keith Cointot’s Ridley Park, Pennsylvania home when he was using the Samsung microwave oven on February 8th.
